closed mouth |
Rabery & Delphieu was founded in Paris, France in 1856 by Jean
Delphieu and Alexandre Rabery. They began primarily making doll bodies of
pink cloth, kid or linen. Bisque heads are poured or pressed, swivel
or stationary. By 1876 they also advertised a variety of Marottes.
In 1881 Rabery & Delphieu advertised jointed dolls of all kind; on white
or pink kid bodies or wooden bodies, the bisque heads and arms are
believed to have been purchased from
François Gaultier, dolls found
have an open or closed mouth. 1890+ they also produced walking and
talking bisque head dolls.
Rabery & Delphieu doll trade names are Bébé Rabery and in 1898 Bébé de
Paris. Doll shoes have been found marked Rabery. In 1899 under successor Genty, Rabery & Delphieu joined
SFBJ and continued producing their
beautiful bisque head bébés until the 1930s. |
