Hasbro Charmkins Dolls 1983-1984

In the 1960's we were introduced to Mattel Little Kiddles, miniature character dolls with a theme accessory, they were a fireman, nurse or pilot to name a few.  Hasbro created similar dolls but based on the fairy tales and called them "Storykins" i.e.. Cinderella, Snow White, these miniature dolls were a delight to children as they were so different, they were so small you could tuck them into a pocket.  Wasn't long before they came on a necklace, bracelet, ring or had a pin on back so you could pin them to your lapel . . . they can go with you anywhere . . . and now you won't lose the doll.  Oh and did I mention they were "scented" that's right the late 60's dolls were scented with strawberry, blueberry, and a bouquet of various flowers.  They weren't packaged on just a cardboard hang tag, no they were in everything from cola bottles - perfume bottles to flower pots.  But, they didn't last and faded out in 1969.  They had taken some of the youngest consumers and made them into "COLLECTORS", ahem.

In 1983 Hasbro began selling a new line of dolls called Charmkins.  Remember the saying, "What goes around, comes around?"   They are similar to their predecessors in that they are miniature dolls each with a loop so it could be put on a chain and worn and they are simply charming all over again.  Another along this line are the Flower dolls which were each uniquely scented.

We really didn't know anything about these dolls, however I got an E-mail on February 5th, 2002 from Tammy Redd.  She had visited our site and was looking for information on Charmkins and Matchbox Internationals; Carrousel dolls.  She wrote and asked if we knew any good links to help her.  So we looked, and didn't find anything, so here's a page for Charmkins.
