Dolls - Where to buy, sell or get doll values & pricing?
So often, posted on the Doll Questions page - people ask where to buy a specific doll or how and where can I sell my doll, and many write to ask "Do you know how much my doll is worth"?  We try to help.  But often the question can be solved if you just know where to look.  So we hope to share a secret with you.

Sure you can go to a local book store or library, buy or borrow all the doll books you can find and start learning all about them.  There are also wonderful doll books with just values. This would be typical of someone wanting to make this a hobby of doll collecting.  But those of you who have a few old found treasures stashed away in your Mother's attic - are not likely to go to this much effort and expense.  You are the person (s) this site has been designed to help, hopefully :)

The traditional way to sell a doll was at your garage sale, at a doll consignment shop, or an ad in your local classified section in the newspaper.  But since the Internet they can now be bought/sold to anyone with a connection and a computer at an online auction.  For antique, vintage or even a modern dolls,  I'd recommend trying online auctions, as this is where a ton of dolls are for sale.  A recent look at the number of dolls was well over 100,000.  If this is where you can buy them then this would be a good place to sell them too, that makes sense, doesn't it?

But wait, I still need to know what price to sell or buy at, I don't want to be cheated or look like a fool!

So here's our Tip.  Once you have the name of the item (that hopefully you found here), use the completed auction listings on ebay to do a search for it. - fill in the details - and check the Completed auctions only box - and more times than I can count, a  list of items will come up for you to peruse, and get an idea of what similar dolls have been bought or sold for in the last 30 days. I have to tell you, this is as good and current of a value as you can get, the doll books are at least a year old by the time they get to market, and often the values are not current, and seem to be somewhat over inflated, compared to what the dolls are truly selling for.

So now you know, and you too, can buy and sell with confidence like a pro!

Please note: This web site is not affiliated with ebay auctions, there are other auction sites that sell dolls (the links page will have listings to as many as we have found), and many collectors sites too, buying from a reputed Doll dealer, selling in a classified ad are definitely options to consider, if you sell in your garage sale - remember that people are looking for a bargain and would not likely pay anything more than a bargain price and certainly if you have many dolls to sell, buy a book to help guide you.                                Sincerely, the Doll Reference web site - Happy Doll Collecting!
