Eegee - Goldberger Dolls 1917-1980

The Eegee Doll Company was founded in 1917 by Mr. & Mrs. E. Goldberger in Brooklyn, NY USA, the Eegee trademark was first used in 1923.  Early dolls were marked E G, Gold Doll Co., E. Goldberger and finally Eegee or Goldberger or (in a a circle) TRADEMARK EEGEE Dolls MADE IN USA.  They produced composition, latex, hard plastic and vinyl dolls.

Shown at left:  1936 Eegee Miss Charming doll, 14 or 17" tall, a Shirley Temple look a like doll, all composition jointed body, green sleep eyes, open mouth with six upper teeth, wigged, shown pristine and all original with tag, some dolls are marked on head:  E.G., others are unmarked.

ca. 1930s Eegee Chikie doll, 17-19" tall, all composition, jointed body, molded painted brown hair, tin blue sleep eyes or painted blue eyes, closed open red mouth or open mouth with four upper teeth, bent right arm, doll is unmarked.  Patsy type.

1949 Eegee Honey Girl & Honey Boy dolls, 11 1/2" tall, all hard plastic, both are the same doll, it depends on how it is dressed as a boy or girl, molded hair, blue sleep eyes, with real upper lashes and painted lower lashes, closed red mouth, chubby toddler body (11" around their tummy), dolls are unmarked but had a wrist tag.  The boy doll came dressed in a light weight sweater and pants and the girl was in a dress & bonnet.     Both photos courtesy of Blackmomdog.

1949 Honey Boy doll, 11 1/2"

ca. 1950s Eegee Boy doll, 16" tall, one piece stuffed wired posable body, vinyl head with molded painted hair, sleep eyes, closed mouth, jointed only at the neck, limbs have wires so they can bend.  Marked on neck: Eegee.  It's unknown how the boy was clothed or his actual name.

1952 Eegee Gigi Perreau doll, 17" tall, vinyl head, hard plastic body, smiling mouth with teeth, Gigi was a universal international starlet.

1956 Eegee Cuddle-bun doll, 18 or 22" tall, one piece cotton stuffed vinyl skin body, jointed at the neck only, molded hair with a ribbon, sleep eyes, coos, closed mouth. Sold at Sears and would have come in a Happi Time marked box.  Doll marked Eegee.

1957 Eegee Little Debutante doll, 15, 17",  Ideal Miss Revlon like competitor doll, only jointed at the neck and shoulders, with a one piece body, wired legs for bending, pierced ears, rooted ponytail hair in various colors, sleep eyes and high heel feet, marked on neck Eegee 15 H or Eegee 17 H.

1958 Eegee Little Miss Debutante doll, 10 1/2" tall, Ideal Little Miss Revlon like competitor doll, sleep eyes, rooted hair, non-twist waist, straight legs, pierced ears, high heel feet, dressed in a 1950s fashion dress, with a fake fur shawl, marked on neck Eegee or possibly E. 

1958 Little Miss Debutante doll 10 1/2"

1958 Eegee Miss Debutante doll, 28" tall, (other sizes may have been available) walker, jointed doll that also has elbows and knees jointed, rooted hair, sleep eyes, ears pierced, high heel feet, marked on neck 20 HH Eegee. Also came as a Bride doll which is shown.

1957-1965 Eegee Babette or Miss Babette doll, 11 1/2" teenage fashion doll, came as a white or the more rare black doll, (Bild Lilli, Barbie clone or competitor) doll, came wearing earrings, striped swimsuit (several colors) and high heel shoes. Often marked on back: E G.

1958 Eegee Baby Susan doll, 8 1/2" tall, molded painted hair, open mouth, jointed body, we think this is correct but uncertain.  Doll is in her box, clothing and bonnet seem to be original.

1960 Eegee Maskerade Magic doll, 12" tall, doll clothing is not removable, rooted hair, had five different face masks.  Cute, too cute.

1961-1970s Eegee Annette doll, 16, 32 or the largest size is 36" tall a Patti Playpal type, all vinyl, sleep eyes, rooted wig long or short bob, walking type.  Doll shown is probably not in her original clothes, but it is a lovely lacy dress that seems to fit her well, so we could be wrong on this ?

1961-1963 Eegee Andy doll, 12" tall, #A70 shown MIB, plastic jointed boy doll, painted facial features and molded hair.  Andy may have been Annette's boyfriend.  Doll marked on neck:  1961 E.G.

1961-1963 Eegee Annette Nurse doll, 11 1/2" tall, high heel fashion doll, she has rooted hair, and painted facial features. Appears to be Andy's girlfriend.

1960s-1970s Eegee Lil Sister doll, 9 1/4" tall, soft plastic head with long straight rooted hair, with or without bangs, painted blue eyes, freckles across the bridge of her nose, closed painted mouth, jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips.  Lil Sister looks similar to Ideal Tammy dolls little sister, Pepper.  Wore a red and white swimsuit similar to the Mattel Skipper doll.  Lil Sister doll is marked EG, Eegee 100.

1963 Eegee Gemmette doll, 15 1/2" tall, rooted hair, sleep eyes, jointed body, dressed in a matching gem colored dress and included a child's gem ring; Miss Amethyst, Miss Emerald, Miss Diamond, Miss Ruby, Miss Sapphire and Miss Topaz.

1963 Eegee Shelley doll, 8" tall, all vinyl small fashion doll, rooted hair in a ponytail, sleep eyes, closed mouth, jointed vinyl body.  Came as a dressed doll or outfits could be bought separately.  Doll probably marked EG or Eegee.

1963 Eegee Puppetrina doll, 22 1/2" tall, rooted hair, sleep eyes, real lashes, open mouth, rosey full cheeks, put your fingers in her arms and head to make the doll move, came in various outfits

1963 Eegee Stoneage Baby doll, 14", Bambam Flintstone clone or competitor, vinyl head with rooted short hair with a plastic bone tied in her ponytail, painted facial features side glancing eyes, closed smiling mouth, plastic jointed body, wore a animal print top edged in red bias tape and red panties.

1963-1968 Eegee Victorian Lady doll, 15" tall, sleep eyes, real lashes, hard plastic body, rooted hair, this one is wearing a red velvet dress trimmed with lace and a matching bonnet (probably several different costumes for this doll over the years).  Marked Eegee.

1964 Eegee Ballerina doll, 31" tall, Patti Playpal type, hard plastic with a vinyl head, rooted hair, sleep eyes, jointed at neck, shoulders, and hips.  

Not sure this is the right doll, she looks suspiciously like the 36" tall Annette doll 1961-1970s above, we'll need to look into this a bit more, so use a little caution until we can do some research on this, course we could be all wrong here too.

Eegee Shelley Walker doll or a Child walker doll, came in 25", 28" or 36" tall, all vinyl with rooted hair or a curly wig, blue sleep eyes. Probably marked Eegee on neck.

1970 Eegee Camilla doll, 16" tall, foam body, rooted hair a "Posi Playmate doll", came wearing a striped dress with lace trim and probably other outfits too, doll is shown in her red flower pajamas.
