Aich, Menzel & Co. Dolls 1918-1930 Austria |

A. C. Angers founded a porcelain factory in 1848, sometime in the late 1800s M. J. Moehling became the owner. The company appears to have changed owners several more times over the years and finally by 1918 the company was known as Aich, Menzel & Company or Porzellanfabrik Aich. 1918 is also when the company first began to produce bisque head dolly face, dolls most with composition bodies. This manufacturer's mark is sometimes mistaken for Armand Marseille's, so collectors refer to this company as "Austria's AM". Doll mold and doll marks 1904 AeM Made in Austria (1904 is the mold number, not a date), A & M Austria or Eduardo Juan Made in Austria, have all been attributed to Aich, Menzel & Company of Austria. |
