
Ernst Villain Princesse Universelle, 30" tall, bisque head doll

The Ernst Villain doll factory was located in
Forchies-la-Marche, Belgium. Founded in 1880 to manufacture various items,
it wasn't until 1932 Villain's factory began making bisque head dolls with
composition jointed bodies, named Princesse Universelle, the dolls are
sized from 23 1/2" to a large 31 1/2" tall.
By 1945 Ernst Villain's factory also included
rattle dolls that are marked Pu Courai. After World War II Ernst
Villain doll factory ceased to exist.
The Princesse Universelle bisque socket head doll, shown on left, is 30" tall,
with multi stroke painted eyebrows, blue glass sleep eyes, an open red painted
mouth with two upper teeth, has a composition German type body jointed at the
shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and knees. |
