1918 American Doll Company antique composition girl doll marcel molded hair, 25″ face, doll mark Am. Doll Co.

The American Doll Company was owned and operated by Bayless Brothers & Company of Louisville, Kentucky.  They made composition molded hair girl or boy dolls, some with a painted clown face, Chubby type dolls and Bye-Lo Baby type white or black dolls. 

1918+ American Doll Company antique composition Girl dolls or Boy dolls have been found in various large sizes from 18″ to 25″ tall, both dolls have distinctive molded hair. The Boy dolls hair is all over molded curls, the Girl dolls molded hair is a marcel wavy style, if hair is unpainted then the doll probably had a mohair wig. Dolls have composition shoulder heads on a stuffed cloth body, short composition arms, cloth legs with cloth boots stitched on or papier mache body with papier mache legs with blue or pink painted on boots, both dolls have decal eyes, closed mouth, doll mark Am. Doll Co.

1926 American Doll company Honey Child black baby is a Bye-Lo type look a like doll, also made a white baby doll, 12-15 1/5″ tall, composition shoulder head and lower arms or full upper arms in larger sized doll, lightly molded painted hair, brown decal side glancing eyes, closed mouth, cloth body, legs and upper arms, doll mark Honey Child on front shoulder plate, mark on back shoulder plate Am Doll Co. Copr. 1926.
