Freundlich Novelty Dolls 1929+ USA

1934 Freundlich Little Red Riding Hood, bad wolf, Grandma set
1934 Freundlich Little Red Riding Hood, bad wolf, Grandma set

Ralph A. Freundlich founded the Freundlich Novelty Corporation in 1929, located in New York City until 1934 and then moved his doll company to Clinton, Massachusetts. Freundlich operations ceased in 1945 when they filed for bankruptcy. Ralph Freundlich first worked for the Jeanette Doll Company from 1923 to1929, at the same time he also formed the Silver Doll & Toy Manufacturing Company in 1923 until 1924 which made unmarked composition head Mama dolls.

Freundlich is best known for novelty dolls such as nursery rhyme characters dolls; Goldilocks and the three Bears, Little Red Riding hood and the Big, Bad Wolf, the Three Little Pigs and the Wolf, Puss n’ Boots a cat, Rabbit animal dolls and possibly others, the famous Baby Sandy child character actor (the only marked doll) and Military portrait dolls. Freundlich dolls are all unmarked except as noted; dolls came with a paper hang tag that identified the dolls name and which are probably long gone, so dolls can be a challenge to identify today.
