Doll Bodies, Inc. Dolls 1950s+ USA
The Doll Bodies Incorporated company operated in New York City, NY in the late 1940s to 1950s. Other than ads run in trade subscriptions, little is known of this company. The most prolific of their dolls that we have found is the 18″ Mary-Lu walker doll, a hip pin walker body with flat feet, sleep eyes, early composition head’s have a closed mouth or hard plastic heads an open mouth with teeth, usually with a pigtail styled wig. Mary-Lu was a dressed doll in various 1950s style, knee length dresses. The Mary-Lu doll is unmarked and can be a difficult to identify, until you become familiar with her features and see her.
Next might be the Lingerie Lu dolls as the dress-me / display type doll is so prevalent in the 1950s and most dolls are unmarked.

1958-1960s Doll Bodies LuAnn doll, 20″ tall, hard plastic walker, vinyl head with rooted hair, blue sleep eyes, closed mouth, jointed at knees, high heel feet, Miss Revlon look a like, may have been dressed as a bride doll, made by Doll Bodies, Inc. of New York. Doll Bodies Inc. ad states this doll was also sold with flat feet and 18″ tall. LuAnn’s box states “She’s my high heel playmate, nylon hose and pretty dress, of all the many dolls I have, I love my teenage LuAnn doll best, with vinyl head and rooted wig, to comb, wash or curl.
