The Alexander Doll Company was founded in 1923 by Bertha Beatrice Alexander and is still in operation today in New York, NY USA. Madame Alexander dolls are of the finest quality and exquisitely dressed by the founder, fashion designer and artist “Madame Alexander“.

1953+ Madame Alexander Alexander-kins, Wendy, Wendy-kins dolls 8″ tall, walkers and non-walkers, vinyl head with short to medium rooted hair in various colors, sleep eyes, closed mouth, hard plastic jointed body some with jointed bendable knees, doll mark ALEX, Alexander. The little Alexander-kins, Wendy, Wendy-kins dolls are Alexander’s most prolific doll series, charming and the small size means you can collect, display and store a lot of dolls.

1954-1956 Madame Alexander Kathy Baby doll 13-15″ or 18-21″ tall, 1955-1956 11-13″, 21 or 25″ tall, Drink N’ Wet doll, has vinyl head with rooted or lightly painted molded hair, sleep eyes, open mouth for a bottle, with a plastic five piece jointed body, slightly curved arms with straight chubby legs, doll marked Madame Alexander. Madame Alexander Alexander-kins, Wendy, Wendy-kins dolls: 1953-1954 dolls are straight leg non-walker, 1954-1955 dolls are straight leg walkers, 1956-1954 dolls are bent knee walkers, 1965 dolls are bent knee non-walkers.

1955-1959 1962 Madame Alexander Cissy doll 20-21″ tall wearing #2285 red gown in 1958, is made of hard plastic doll, wigged, sleep eyes, closed mouth, lady body, jointed upper arm / elbows and knees, high heel feet, clothes are tagged “Cissy” and there were hundreds of outfits produced for Cissy, doll usually marked ALEXANDER. A pre-Cissy head mold was used on Binnie and Winne walker dolls in 1953, Later Cissy’ dolls do not have an upper arm joint. 1996 to present Alexander re-introduced modern Cissy dolls.

1957-1963 Madame Alexander Cissette doll 10″ tall, hard plastic, sleep eyes, jointed at neck, shoulders, hips, and knees, high heel feet, dressed in #900 basic doll in a chemise. Dolls can be unmarked or marked MmM ALEXANDER. Cissette had many different outfits including; a Ball gown, Ballerina, Beauty Queen, Bride, Casual dress, Formal dress, Gibson Girl and others, shown on right is an original striped pink day dress.

1957-1964 Madame Alexander Elise doll 16 1/2 (1957-1960), 17″ with vinyl head (1961-1962, 1967-1976, 1982), 18″ tall with up swept hair-do (1963), hard plastic with vinyl arms, jointed at the neck, shoulders, hips knees and ankles, many different outfits were available, doll usually marked ALEXANDER or MeM ALEXANDER.

1959+ Madame Alexander Kelly doll 12, 15-16, 18, 20, 22″ tall, this is the Kelly mold used on several characters, vinyl head with rooted shoulder length hair, sleep eyes, real upper eyelashes, painted lower lashes, closed mouth, five piece hard plastic jointed body, doll usually marked Mme. Alexander 1958. shown Kelly doll is 22″ tall. In 1998-1999 Kelly was reproduced.

1959-1965, 1998 Madame Alexander Marybel the Doll That Gets Well 12, 15, 17, 22″ tall, has the Kelly face mold, soft vinyl head, fully jointed body including a twist waist, rooted hair, sleep eyes, closed mouth, doll usually marked Mme. Alexander 1958. Marybel came in a case with accessories to get well, she wore pink satin shortie pajamas, robe and slippers or a wardrobe depending on year made, accessories are; plastic crutches, two plastic arm casts and leg casts, gauze bandages, tape, red measles spots, yellow chicken pox spots and sunglasses.
Not shown; 1954 Madame Alexander Farmerette doll 10 or 12″ tall, same as the 1951 Cherub dolls, except came wearing a short sleeve one piece yellow knit top with green cotton bib overalls and matching sun hat, doll marked Alexander.
