Alexander 1950-1954 Vintage Dolls Identified USA

The Alexander Doll Company was founded by Bertha “Beatrice” Alexander in 1923. The 1950s is considered by some as the Alexander Doll companies golden years. They continued to produce dolls of the highest quality and exquisitely dressed.
Founder Beatrice Alexander was an artist and fashion designer.

1950 Alexander Cinderella and Prince Charming doll 14 or 18″ tall, all hard plastic jointed body, both used the Margaret face mold, sleep eyes, closed mouth, wigged her is a fancy floss wig. Both dolls dressed in outfits of white satin and velvet. The Margaret face molds are usually marked Alexander or Alex. Also a 1950 Prince Phillip and 1953 Queen Elizabeth II dolls both are 18″ tall.
1951 Alexander Penny doll 34 or 42″ tall or 1952 Barbara Jane doll 29″ tall, cloth stuffed body, vinyl stuffed head, legs and arms, sleep or painted eyes, synthetic Newtar saran wig, closed mouth, usually marked ALEXANDER.

1952-1953 Alexander Cynthia doll, 15, 18 or 23″ tall, all hard plastic black doll, jointed body, sleep eyes, wigged, closed mouth. Uses the Margaret face mold.
Usually marked ALEXANDER.
1952 Alexander Little Men dolls; Stuffy, Nat and Tommy Bangs, 14″ tall, all hard plastic, jointed body, wigged, sleep eyes with real eyelashes, closed mouth. Stuffy and Nat use the Maggie face mold which is usually unmarked. Tommy uses the Margaret face mold usually marked ALEXANDER. All are based on the Louisa May Alcott characters. 1952 Alexander Rosebud doll, 16-18″ tall, 1953 Rosebud doll, 13, 15, 16-18″ or 22-25″ tall, vinyl flange head, cloth body with crier, vinyl lower limbs both arms and legs, molded short curly hair, wigged or rooted hair, sleep eyes, closed mouth, doll marked Alexander.
1986 Rosebud doll, 14-20″, white cloth and vinyl or 14″ black doll in cloth and vinyl.
1952 Alexander Snow White doll, 14 or 18″ tall, all hard plastic, jointed body, black wig, sleep eyes, closed mouth, used the Cissy face mold. Usually doll marked ALEXANDER. Doll shown in photo is all pristine and original. Photo courtesy of Pearlsgrl.
1953 Alexander Mary Ellen doll, 31″ tall, all hard plastic jointed body, rooted nylon hair, single stroke brows, sleep eyes, smiling mouth, doll usually marked MME ALEXANDER. Doll shown in photo is all pristine and original and in her box. Photo courtesy of Pearlsgrl.
1953-1955 Alexander Winnie Walker doll or Binnie Walker doll, 15, 18 or 25″ tall, all hard plastic jointed body, wigged; the Winnie Walker doll has a wig that is glued on the head and the Binnie Walker doll has rooted hair on a a vinyl skull cap. Both used the pre-Cissy face mold so this is the only way to tell the difference between the two dolls, usual doll mark ALEXANDER.
The Alexander Winnie or Binnie Walker dolls look similar to Arranbee’s Taffy doll, Belle Doll & Toy Margie and Marjorie faced dolls and Sayco’s Bride doll marked 85.
1953-1994 Alexander-Kins Billy Quiz-kins, Girl Quiz-kins, Wendy Ann, Wendy, Wendy-Kins, 7 1/2 – 8″ tall, Wendy face mold, yes/no button on back, all hard plastic jointed straight leg walker, molded hair or wigged, sleep eyes, closed mouth, dressed in a romper, bride, groom, girl’s dress or as Peter Pan with a caracul wig, many Alexander-kins dolls are unmarked or marked ALEX. After 1976 marked ALEXANDER.
1954-1956 Alexander Kathy Baby doll, 13-15″ or 18-21″ tall, 1955-1956 11-13″, 21 or 25″ tall, Drink N’ Wet doll, has vinyl head with rooted or lightly painted molded hair, sleep eyes, open mouth for a bottle, with a plastic five piece jointed body, slightly curved arms with straight chubby legs, doll marked Madame Alexander. 1950 Alexander Groom doll 18″ tall, Wendy Ann face, all composition slim body jointed doll, short wig, sleep eyes, closed mouth dresses in an elegant black tuxedo, jacket pants, white shirt, socks and black shoes.
1950 Ring Bearer doll 11-12′ tall, Lovey Dovey face, all composition jointed toddler body, short blonde wig, sleep eyes, closed mouth, dressed in an ivory short sleeve shirt, shorts, socks and ivory leather shoes, carrying an ivory satin pillow with a gold ring.
1951+ Alexander Cherub dolls 10 or 12″ tall, vinyl head with molded painted hair and squiggle curls on forehead, brown painted eyes, red painted closed mouth, jointed at neck, one piece rubber magic skin toddler body with spread apart fingers, came wearing a cream satin gown with lace trim, angel wings and gold halo, dolls marked Alexander.
1954 Alexander Farmerette doll, 10 or 12″ tall, same as the 1951 Cherub dolls, except came wearing a short sleeve one piece yellow knit top with green cotton bib overalls and matching sun hat, doll marked Alexander.
