Hasbro Hatbox, Dolly Darlings, Flower Darlings Dolls 1965+ USA
The 1965 Hasbro Little Friends hatbox dolls were packaged in a plastic hatbox case with a clear front cover. The Dolly Darlings dolls are 4 1/2″ tall, have painted molded hair and facial features, an open / closed “O” shaped mouth and have distinctive “ballerina” like hands, painted socks and shoes. All dolls are jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips. Dolly Darlings doll clothing have snaps in the back and are removeable, but are difficult to get back on due to the arms that rotate, but do not bend. Each doll came with an assortment of tiny accessories that complimented the dolls character.

In 1966 Hasbro changed the dolls name from Little Friends to Dolly Darlings. In 1968 Hasbro added Flower Darlings doll pins to the line. Hasbro Dolly Darlings dolls were discontinued in 1969.

Beth or Betty Supermarket doll, Beth has blonde molded hair, Betty has orange molded hair, both wear an orange vest, orange plaid pants, no socks, orange shoes.
John and his Pets doll, brown molded hair, blue and white checked jacket, blue shorts, blue socks, brown shoes, John’s accessories are: two dogs red and black, red cardboard book “How to teach Cats?”, two cats white and black, can of cat food, yellow duck, four pieces of white plastic fencing.

Vintage 1967-1968 Hasbro Dolly Darlings rooted hair Dolls Identified
In 1967 Hasbro refreshed the Dolly Darlings 4 /2″ dolls now with rooted hair, the rest of the doll is the same as earlier, new packaging of a blue or pink cardboard box with clear cellophane wrap so the doll can be seen. Dolly Darlings dolls have new descriptive names and a yellow plastic comb and brush are the accessories. All the earlier dolls were reproduced with new names except John the male boy doll.

Vintage 1968 Hasbro Flower Darlings Dolls Identified
The 1968 Hasbro Flower Darlings dolls consist of Lily Darling, Violet Darling, Daisy Darling, Daphne (daffodil) Darling, Dahlia Darling and Rose Darlings dolls. Flower darling dolls consist of a tiny doll tucked into a scented plastic flower with a pin, so it can be worn by a child. A Mum Darling doll was designed but not produced.
In 1969 Hasbro Dolly Darlings dolls production ceased and so all remaining stock was put on the market. This may explain why some dolls have variations in clothing, or if you find a mismatched or non-typical doll, it maybe that a child played with the doll and changed the head or clothing – dolls are difficult to redress due to the ballerina like hands.
