The Hertel, Schwab & Company, also know as the Stutzhauser Porzellanfabrik, was founded in 1910 at Stutzhaus, Germany which is near Ohrdruf, by August Hertel, Heinrich Schwab and Friedrich Muller all doll designers or sculptors and minor partner Hugo Rosenbush who was a porcelain painter.
Hertel, Schwab made bisque head Character Baby or Child dolls, Dolly face, Googly dolls, Bathing dolls, Tea-cozy shoulder heads and Pin-cushion dolls, all of which are of very high quality. Some Hertel, Schwab dolls were made exclusively for the American market such as the Bye-Lo Baby dolls for George Borgfeldt. Hertel, Schwab made many doll molds for other doll makers which are noted below. Hertel, Schwab is still mentioned into the 1930s producing bisque dolls.
