Belle Doll & Toy – Dolls 1952-1958 USA
The Belle Doll & Toy Corporation of Brooklyn, New York USA, made hard plastic and vinyl dolls from 1952 to 1958. Belle made Ballerina dolls, a multi-jointed doll, high heel fashion dolls and Walking dolls, are all that we have found and are look alike dolls of competitors. Because Belle made dolls for only a short time, their dolls may be harder to find than the dolls they look like.
Belle’s Heddi Stroller is a look a like of 1951 Artisan’s Raving Beauty doll, Margie and Marjorie dolls both have faces similar to Alexander’s Cissy, Binnie and Winnie dolls, also Arranbee’s Taffy doll. Little Miss Margie or Marjorie are both Miss Coty Girl dolls (yes, the exact same marked doll), Twixie the twisting pixie doll is like Uneeda’s Dollikin or Valentine’s Manikin dolls.
By the early 1960s Belle Doll & Toy Corporation was acquired by the Effanbee company.
