French Antique Dolls or Shoes Mystery Marks

Antique doll shoes

Identifying a French doll makers mark, if one is present, is often found on the back of the dolls head under a wig, on a shoulder plate or on the back of all bisque dolls, under arms, bottoms of the feet on cloth dolls. Check your doll carefully, many early antique French dolls are marked with only a single alphabetic letter which is the dolls size; A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, O – were used by many different French doll makers. You’ll need to be an antique French doll expert to identify the nuances of each doll makers doll, to identify.

Antique leather doll shoes often have initials or a company keystone with a size number on the bottom to identify them. At the bottom of this page are the ones we could not identify the doll maker.
