Century Doll Company Dolls USA 1909+
Brief history: The Century Doll Company of New York was founded in 1909 by Max Scheuer and made bisque and composition dolls. Max Scheuer retired in 1926 and his sons continued the business until 1928 when they merged with the Domec Toy Company. The companies then became known as the Doll Corporation of America and continued to use the trade name and doll mark Domec.
Century is probably best known for their Bye-Lo Baby type dolls with bisque heads by JD Kestner or composition Bye-Lo Baby type dolls.

Germany”.

1925+ Century Character Baby doll; Sweetums or Clap Hands a Bye-Lo Baby type doll, 14 or 22″ tall, bisque head on cloth body with composition limbs, sleep eyes, open mouth, doll usually marked: Century Doll Co Kestner German. Some markings may have a K inside a diamond above the Century Doll Co and doll mold 281.
1925+ Century Character Baby doll; Sweetums or Clap Hands a Bye-Lo Baby type doll, 10 – 22″ tall, bisque head on cloth body with composition hands, sleep eyes, closed mouth, doll usually marked Century Doll Co Kestner German.
Some doll markings may have a K inside a diamond above the Century Doll Co. and doll mold 277.
ca. 1927 Century Chuckles doll, 14-19″ tall, composition shoulder head, arms and legs, painted blonde molded hair, sleep eyes, open/closed mouth with teeth, painted eyes or tin sleep eyes, cloth body, jointed at the shoulders and hips, doll mark Century Doll Co.
1928 Century Pudgy Peggy doll, 14″ tall, composition shoulder head & limbs, cloth body, molded painted hair with hair loop for a bow, sleep eyes, closed mouth, has a crier, doll mark Pudgy Peggy Century Doll Co.

Domec Toy Company 1918-1928+ USA
Domec Toy Company was founded in 1918 in New York City and made composition dolls reasonably priced, sold at carnival’s and in stores. Domec’s Mama dolls had voice boxes or criers licensed from Voices, Inc. In 1928 Domec merged with Century Doll and a new company name of Doll Corporation of America.

Antique Domec Dolls Identified
ca. 1927 Domec Toy, Babs doll 23″, all composition, light brown human hair wig, tin sleep eyes, open mouth with two upper teeth, joined body at neck, shoulders and hips, doll mark Fiberoid. Babs is shown all original in her short sleeveless dress, matching hat, white socks and oilcloth tie shoes with silver buckles and paper hang tag “A Domec Product Babs”. Madame Alexander was also known to have sold Fiberoid marked dolls.

Doll Corporation of America 1928-1930s USA
The Doll Corporation of America was formed in 1928 with the merging of Century and Domec. Doll Corp. of America continued to produce composition dolls from both prior companies, notably Century Chuckles doll and Domec Giggles dolls and continued to add new dolls the 1930 Kewty doll.

ca. 1931+ Doll Corporation of America, Polly Prim doll, 12″ tall, Patsy type doll, all composition jointed body, very lightly molded painted brown hair, painted brown eyes, closed painted mouth. Polly Prim came in a trunk with a wardrobe, doll is unmarked. If your doll is similar with molded painted blonde hair and blue painted eyes, see Regal’s Bobby Anne doll.

ca. 1931+ Doll Corporation of America, Princess Polly doll, 12 1/2″ tall, Patsy type doll, all composition jointed body, very lightly molded painted brown hair, painted brown eyes, closed painted mouth. Polly Prim came in a trunk with a wardrobe, doll is unmarked.
