Johann Walther and Nikolaus Oberender founded their doll factory in 1908 in Oeslau near Coburg, Germany They advertised bisque head dressed dolls, baby dolls, bathing dolls, figurines, knick-knacks and used the doll mark IW intertwined, by 1910 the partnership dissolved and each went their separate ways, creating their own porcelain factories.
In 1921 Johann Walther new company name as J. Walther & Sohn, continuing to use the IW mark, as well as the WS intertwined mark. Most of their bisque head dolls are small, the largest size we have found was 15″ tall. It is unknown to us when the Walther doll factory ceased operations after 1941.

Nikolas Oberender founded a porcelain factory with Johann Walther in Oeslau, Thuringia, Germany in 1908, when the partnership ended in in 1910 he formed his own porcelain factory.
In 1910 Oberender’s porcelain factory employed 110 workers making bisque doll heads. By 1927 the company was known as Wilhelmine Oberender. It is unknown to us when the Oberender doll factory ceased operations after 1927.
