1966 Barbie Dolls Mark and What Does it Mean?
Mattel Barbie dolls and friends main identifying mark is located on the dolls buttock, on modern Barbie dolls the mark is on the lower back at the waist. There are additional numbers on the inside arms, inside thighs, sometimes on the back of the head neck rim. These are probably part or numbers from the mold used to assemble the dolls and do not have any importance in trying to identify a Barbie doll or the year it was on the market.
There are billions of Barbie dolls made in the 1980s to present with 1966 date in the mark, because 1966 is the date the patent was registered in the country where the doll was manufactured. Use the table below to see when your doll was actually made and sold, as it was not in 1966.
